If the fourth name arrived this year
A new baby, adoption, marriage, or move can turn this into the first Christmas as four. Say so directly if the milestone matters: “Our first Christmas as a family of four” with the year. If the family would rather keep the event private, four names and the date still record the change.
The ornament does not need birth details unless the baby is its subject. On a whole-family design, the new name beside the others may say enough. A separate baby’s first Christmas ornament can carry the birth date, weight, length, or photograph.
Does the dog make five?
Some family-of-four listings count four humans and offer pets separately. Others count every figure, which means the dog turns the design into a family of five. Look at the example and count the human figures, pet figures, and name fields before choosing.
When the dog belongs in the Christmas photograph and has a stocking, include the name with the family. A paw print at the edge can work on a names-only piece; an illustrated row should give the pet a figure rather than an unexplained extra name.
